A quiet Saturday afternoon in Phenix City, Alabama, was shattered by gunfire on February 4, 2023, leaving a young man dead and a community searching for answers. The victim was identified as 22-year-old Daeqwon Mackey, a resident of the city. The shooting occurred in the 2700 block of 6th Street in what neighbors described as a quiet and peaceful area. Mackey, who was known to enjoy walking and listening to music, was struck multiple times in what authorities believe was a drive-by shooting.
