On April 7, 2023, 33-year-old Aaron Morris Nix of Stevenson, Alabama, was fatally shot at a business on Veterans Drive in Scottsboro. Upon arrival at approximately 9:35 p.m., Scottsboro Police officers found Nix deceased from a gunshot wound. Following an initial investigation, 25-year-old Jerry Carl Hicks of Flat Rock was arrested and charged with murder.
