On the evening of Friday, April 7, 2023, a fatal encounter unfolded at a business off Veterans Drive in Scottsboro, Alabama, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Aaron Morris Nix, a Black male. The incident led to the arrest of 25-year-old Jerry Carl Hicks, who was subsequently charged with murder.
