In the early hours of June 16, 2023, 20-year-old Derrick Wilder Jr. was fatally shot during a robbery at Creekwood Village Apartments in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Around 2 a.m., a group transported Wilder to the Tuscaloosa Police Department's West Precinct, seeking assistance for his gunshot wound. Despite prompt medical attention, Wilder succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
