In the late hours of a September weekend, the quiet of Lowndesboro, Alabama, was broken by the sound of gunfire, a tragic event that would mark the county's first homicide of 2023. On Saturday, September 16, 2023, authorities were called to Elm Street in the White Hall community, where they discovered the body of 43-year-old Eddie Oneal Lee. Lee, a male resident of the area, was found inside an SUV and was pronounced dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.
