On August 12, 2016, 40-year-old Jason Lee Fox was found deceased in his Muscle Shoals, Alabama, home, having suffered a gunshot wound to the head. The crime scene appeared to have been staged to resemble a burglary.

Investigations revealed that Jason's wife, Erica Fox, had been experiencing marital issues and was engaged in an extramarital affair with Ronnie Credille. Erica admitted that Credille had suggested eliminating Jason so they could be together.
