In the early morning hours of October 26, 2023, a grim discovery was made in the Wylam neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. The body of Kevin J. Davis, a 41-year-old Black male, was found on the side of Lexington Street. The initial death investigation quickly turned into a homicide inquiry.

Authorities from the Birmingham Police Department were summoned to the scene where they found Mr. Davis. Following an examination by the coroner, it was determined that he had been shot to death. His ...
