In the early morning hours of Sunday, November 19, 2023, the life of 17-year-old Cleo Stovall Jr. was cut short in a barrage of gunfire on Stuardi Court in Mobile, Alabama. The teenager, who was not a resident of the neighborhood, became embroiled in a shootout with individuals inside a parked vehicle. The exchange of fire was intense, with neighbors reporting hearing as many as 50 gunshots.
The chaotic scene left stray bullets lodged in nearby homes, including one that pierced the closet of a 3-year-old child's room.
When Mobile Police officers arrived at the scene around 12:58 a.m. in response to the reports of gunfire, they discovered Stovall in a yard, suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation confirmed that there had been an exchange of gunfire between Stovall and the occupants of the vehicle. In the aftermath of the shooting, the Mobile Police Department initiated a homicide investigation to piece together the events that led to the deadly confrontation.
As of now, the investigation into the death of Cleo Stovall Jr. is ongoing. Authorities have not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests in connection with the shooting.
