On November 22, 2023, at approximately 1 a.m., Selma Police Department officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 3400 block of Water Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Jamyron Rashad Hope, an evidence technician with the department, unresponsive on the ground. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
