On the Fourth of July, 2026, in Selma, Alabama, a day of celebration turned into a scene of tragedy with the death of 22-year-old Jerome Baker. In the early morning hours, at approximately 2:33 a.m., gunfire erupted at a gathering on the 1500 block of Mabry Street. When Selma police arrived at the scene, they discovered multiple individuals with gunshot wounds.
