On the night of January 2, 2026, the city of Selma was marked by its first homicide of the new year. Carloryd Moss, a 30-year-old man, was found with fatal gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of Old Montgomery Highway. Police responded to the scene at approximately 10 p.m. and pronounced him dead there.
