In the Trinity Gardens community of Mobile, Alabama, a burst of gunfire on the morning of February 17, 2024, shattered the quiet and ended the life of 20-year-old Laguy Miller. The male victim was found lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds. The violent encounter, which unfolded on Next Street, also left two other teenagers, a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old, with non-life-threatening injuries.
Miller was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
The Mobile Police Department launched an investigation into the triple shooting that led to Miller's death. Their efforts led them to identify 20-year-old Trenton Todd as the suspected shooter. On February 28, 2024, authorities arrested Todd and charged him with one count of murder in connection to the death of Laguy Miller.
This was not Todd's first encounter with law enforcement. In an unrelated incident in October 2022, he was publicly identified as a suspect sought by the Mobile Police Department for allegedly opening fire on a driver. In that case, it was reported that Todd became angry with the driver who had dropped off his girlfriend. After the driver refused to disclose the pickup location, Todd allegedly followed her and fired multiple shots at her vehicle. The driver was not injured in that incident.
Following his arrest for the murder of Laguy Miller, Todd was expected to have a bond hearing. The motive for the shooting that ended Miller's life and injured two others has not been publicly released by investigators.
