On April 9, 2024, 16-year-old Jaylan Lee Jenkins of Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot following an altercation at a neighborhood convenience store. The incident occurred around 8:28 p.m. in the 4200 block of Jackson Street in the Inglenook community.
