Annasia Woods was a 23-year-old Black woman whose life was cut short in Troy, Alabama. On Friday, May 24, 2024, Woods was fatally shot in the 400 block of Aster Circle. Officers with the Troy Police Department responded to the scene and found her deceased, prompting an immediate homicide investigation.
The Troy Police Department, assisted by the Pike County Coroner’s Office and the District Attorney’s Office, began to piece together the events that led to the shooting.
The investigation moved quickly, and within a few days, authorities had identified a person of interest.
Over the weekend following the killing, police arrested Kentaurie Daevon Fulpher, a 20-year-old from Troy. He was officially charged with murder in connection with the death of Annasia Woods.
Following his arrest, Fulpher was transported to the Pike County Jail. He was ordered to be held without bond pending an Aniah's Law hearing, a provision in Alabama law that allows judges to deny bail to individuals accused of violent crimes. As of late May 2024, the investigation was still considered ongoing as the case against Fulpher proceeded through the legal system.
