In the late spring of 2023, the community of Troy, Alabama, was shaken by the tragic death of 12-year-old Jaquez Mirkel Wynn. On Tuesday, May 30th, law enforcement responded to a call about a shooting in the 900 block of Pike County Lake Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered the young boy had been fatally shot. Several other juveniles were present at the scene when the incident occurred.
The investigation into the young male's death quickly led to the identification and arrest of
three teenage suspects. A 15-year-old male was charged with reckless murder in connection with the shooting. In addition to the murder charge, he also faces a charge of breaking and entering a vehicle. Two other teens, aged 16 and 17, were also arrested and charged with breaking and entering a motor vehicle.
Authorities believe the weapon used in the fatal shooting had been stolen from a vehicle in Troy just a day before the incident. The investigation brought to light a series of events that culminated in the untimely death of Jaquez Mirkel Wynn, leaving a family and community to mourn the loss of a young life.
