On the evening of June 9, 2024, at approximately 8:40 PM, Phenix City police responded to a shooting incident at 705 16th Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 26-year-old Mike Adams Jr. deceased from a gunshot wound. During the investigation, authorities identified a second victim, 26-year-old Japaris Vaughn, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Vaughn was transported to Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment.
