In the summer of 2024, a tragic event unfolded in Phenix City, Alabama, ending the life of 52-year-old Christopher Bernard Womack. On the afternoon of Friday, June 14, 2024, police were called to The District of Phenix City apartment complex, located on College Drive. There, they discovered Womack had sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The Russell County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene at 2:43 P.M.
The investigation into the shooting quickly led to a startling and heartbreaking
development. Authorities identified the suspect as Christopher Justin Womack, the 22-year-old son of the victim. He was taken into custody by Phenix City investigators and subsequently charged with the murder of his father.
