In the spring of 2015, the life of 29-year-old Leon Harmon, Jr. was cut short in an act of violence that unfolded in Phenix City, Alabama. On the evening of April 13, 2015, Harmon was at the Richardson Lounge located on Seale Road in the southern part of the city. It was there that gunshots rang out, leaving Harmon fatally wounded. Another individual was also seriously injured in the incident.
Harmon was transported to Midtown Medical Center, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Born on January 14, 1986, in Phenix City, Leon Harmon, Jr. was a resident of nearby Fort Mitchell, Alabama. He had attended schools within the Russell County School System. He was a father to one daughter, Emani Harmon. His family, including his parents, Dalphine Harmon Smith and Leon Alexander, a sister, and a brother, were left to mourn his sudden and tragic loss. His funeral service was held on April 18, 2015, at the Franchise Missionary Baptist Church in Phenix City.
The investigation into the shooting at Richardson Lounge led authorities to a suspect the following year. Damon Daniels Jr. was arrested and subsequently charged with murder in connection with the death of Leon Harmon, Jr. At the time of a separate double homicide in Phenix City in December 2022, it was reported that Daniels had been released from prison in late 2021 and was on probation.
