On the evening of November 12, 2024, 17-year-old Gerald Andre Lomax Jr., a senior at P.D. Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot while leaving a basketball game. Gerald, a varsity athlete in both basketball and football, was in the passenger seat of a vehicle with a friend when an unknown assailant fired multiple shots into their car.
