On September 8, 1975, Anchorage Police Officer Johnathan Paul Flora responded to a reported burglary at a drug addiction treatment center in downtown Anchorage. Upon arrival, he observed a broken window and used his flashlight to inspect the interior. After holstering his weapon, Officer Flora began to enter through the window when he was fatally shot in the head by an assailant inside the building.
