On the evening of March 20, 2024, Anchorage Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting at the top level of the parking garage located at 245 W 5th Avenue. Upon arrival, they discovered 20-year-old Skyler Burkett with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Despite immediate medical attention, Burkett succumbed to his injuries, and his death was subsequently classified as a homicide.
