On February 18, 1974, Trooper Dennis Finbar Cronin, aged 31, was fatally shot in Anchorage, Alaska, while serving on a Drug Enforcement Task Force. During a meeting with an informant inside his squad car, the informant unexpectedly opened fire, resulting in Trooper Cronin's death. Following the shooting, the informant committed suicide, leaving his motives unknown.
