On June 22, 2024, 30-year-old Black male Farrel Siulua was fatally shot in Anchorage, Alaska, during a violent incident that occurred near a homeless encampment in the area of East 40th Avenue and Fairbanks Street. The shooting took place in the early hours of Saturday morning, around 1 a.m., and was reported by officers who heard gunfire in the vicinity. Farrel Siulua, whose ethnicity has not been publicly disclosed, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Another individual was also injured during the incident, though their identity has not been released.
According to Anchorage Police Department reports, the shooting stemmed from an altercation involving multiple individuals. The confrontation escalated when two suspects discharged firearms, resulting in the death of Farrel Siulua and injuries to another person. The suspects were identified as 21-year-old Dominick L. Santana and 20-year-old Keilen J. Reynolds. Both men were located and taken into custody shortly after the incident. They were transported to the Anchorage Police Department for questioning and subsequently remanded to the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
