In September 2024, the life of 27-year-old Maria Sebastian Juan was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. A Hispanic female, Maria's family grew worried and reported her missing on a Friday morning. Their worst fears were realized later that afternoon when her body was discovered at The Hillside apartment complex. An investigation by the Birmingham Police revealed that she had been assaulted and her death was ruled a homicide.

ex-boyfriend and the father of her child, 34-year-old Tremayne Dawon King. According to Maria's mother, Zenobia Aqeel, King had a history of threatening Maria, having told her on multiple occasions that he would kill her. This history of domestic disputes painted a grim picture of their tumultuous relationship and pointed towards a domestic violence-related homicide.
Following an intensive manhunt, Tremayne Dawon King was taken into custody and subsequently charged with murder. He was booked and is being held without bond.
