On March 25, 2024, 45-year-old Evet Michelle Tower was fatally shot by a Tuscaloosa police officer during an incident at Aspen Village Apartments. Around 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a call from Tower's family, who reported she was experiencing a mental health crisis.
