In a tragic turn of events on a Thursday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, a family was irrevocably shattered by violence. On August 11, 2016, 65-year-old Ruby Prentice and her 20-year-old grandson, Justin Marquise Prentice, were found shot outside a residence. Both victims, who were African American, were quickly transported to a local hospital, but their injuries proved fatal.
