On April 28, 2024, at approximately 3:22 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1700 block of Avenue I, located in the Ensley community. Upon arrival, they discovered 50-year-old Terry Dewayne Hinson lying unresponsive in the roadway, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. A passerby was attempting to render aid; however, Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced Hinson deceased at the scene.
