On the night of May 18, 2024, 15-year-old LaKyijah Williams was enjoying a carefree moment, riding a scooter with friends in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. The area near Studio Park was bustling, but the lively atmosphere was shattered around 11:30 p.m. when gunshots rang out.
