On March 23, 2024, at approximately 8:19 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person down in the 400 block of 1st Street West, located in the Elyton neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 63-year-old Roderick Levann Davis lying face down in a grassy area, unresponsive and exhibiting facial abrasions. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Services pronounced him deceased at the scene.
