On the morning of March 23, 2024, 63-year-old Black male Roderick Levann Davis was found unresponsive in a grassy area in the Elyton neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. Officers from the Birmingham Police Department responded to a "Person Down" call at approximately 8:19 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Davis lying face-down with visible facial abrasions.
