On October 16, 1994, James Watkins, aged 52, was among five individuals fatally shot during a robbery at the Changing Times Lounge in Birmingham, Alabama. The other victims included Pamela Dodd, 37; Lester "Eddie" Dodd, 38; Florence Elliot, 45; and William Nelson, 52.
