On September 29, 2022, at approximately 4:00 PM, Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a shooting in the 2600 block of 5th Avenue South. Upon arrival, they discovered 29-year-old Birmingham resident Adarius Jamar Peterson suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of a parking enforcement impound facility. Despite prompt medical attention, Peterson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
