On the morning of October 27, 2023, 47-year-old Dominick Dwayne Peterson was found deceased in Birmingham, Alabama. At approximately 8:42 a.m., officers from the Birmingham Police Department's West Precinct responded to a "person down" call in the 3900 block of Walnut Avenue SW, located in the Riley community. Upon arrival, they discovered Peterson lying unresponsive off the roadway, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
