On February 11, 2023, Darnell Michael Puidokas, a 36-year-old locksmith from Oak Park, Michigan, residing in Birmingham, Alabama, was fatally shot at a Chevron gas station on Bessemer Road. The incident arose from a dispute over payment for locksmith services he had provided earlier in the evening.
