Darnell Michael Puidokas, a 36-year-old man, was fatally shot on a Saturday evening in Birmingham, Alabama, in what police have described as a senseless act of violence. The incident, which occurred on February 11, 2023, stemmed from a dispute over payment for locksmith services. Puidokas, working as a locksmith, had completed a job for a customer and then accompanied him to an ATM to receive payment for his work.
It was at the ATM that an argument over the cost of the services escalated
dramatically. The disagreement turned into a physical altercation, which tragically ended with Puidokas being shot. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but despite their efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
Following an investigation into the shooting, authorities identified a suspect. A 62-year-old man named Michael Kermit Murray was taken into custody in connection with the death of Puidokas. He was subsequently charged with murder. The case highlights a seemingly minor disagreement that spiraled into a fatal encounter, leaving a community to mourn a life cut short.
