On July 7, 2023, at approximately 7 a.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person at the tennis courts in East Lake Park, located in the 400 block of 82nd Street North. Upon arrival, they discovered 35-year-old Kapricee Monique Jackson suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced her deceased at the scene.
