On the night of July 4, 2023, 42-year-old Tyesa Shawtae Smith was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing 3rd Avenue West in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred at approximately 11:44 p.m. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, leaving Smith to succumb to her injuries at the location.
