Janyia Marshae Thompson

In the spring of 2023, the life of 19-year-old Janyia Marshae Thompson was cut tragically short in a burst of gunfire in Birmingham, Alabama. On the evening of April 25th, Janyia was inside a store when she became the victim of what law enforcement described as a targeted attack. The shooting, which also left another woman injured, ended Janyia's life, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss of a young woman just on the cusp of adulthood.
