District discovered Smith suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived at the scene and quickly transported him to a local hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Devin Dwayne Smith succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
