On January 14, 2023, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Birmingham Police Department officers responded to a report of a person down in the 5000 block of 43rd Street North in the Inglenook neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 17-year-old Ryan Donell Marable lying unresponsive in the backyard of a residence, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.
