On the evening of June 25, 2022, a young Black/African American man named Jaylan Bloxom, aged 18, was fatally shot in Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred at approximately 7:05 p.m. in a courtyard in the 7500 block of 67th Courtway South. When Birmingham Police Department officers arrived at the scene, they found Bloxom unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
