On April 3, 2022, in Birmingham, Alabama, 62-year-old Cynthia Delane Burt and her 3-year-old grandson, Desmond Burt Jr., were found deceased in their residence at 4909 Hillman Drive SW. Concerned family members, unable to reach them, requested a welfare check. Upon arrival, Birmingham Police and Fire and Rescue personnel forced entry into the home and discovered both victims unresponsive in a back room. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
