On a Saturday evening in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the life of 23-year-old Tumontay Parks was tragically cut short. The young Black man was at a gathering in the 1400 block of Belle Avenue on May 17, 2025, when violence erupted. Shots were fired from a dark-colored truck, which then quickly fled the scene, leaving chaos and a critically injured Parks behind.
He was privately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Tumontay Parks succumbed to his wounds. The Fort Smith Police Department was notified of the shooting when Parks arrived at the hospital at approximately 10 p.m. and promptly launched a homicide investigation into the young man's death.
As of the initial reports, no arrests had been made in connection with the fatal shooting. Authorities were actively investigating the incident and seeking information from the public to help identify the suspect or suspects responsible for this senseless act of violence that ended a young life. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to bring justice for Tumontay Parks.
