On August 21, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Shelby County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of gunfire at a residence in the 100 block of Asberry Road, near Montevallo, Alabama. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Jose Alberto Mandujano Chavez suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
