On October 29, 2022, at approximately 5:30 p.m., 39-year-old Eric Steven Kaczmarek was shot in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy located at the corner of West Valley Avenue and Green Springs Highway in Homewood, Alabama. Responding officers found Kaczmarek suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to UAB Hospital in critical condition and succumbed to his injuries later that night.
