On December 23, 2021, 23-year-old Danija Mitchell and her partner, 26-year-old Xavier Alexander, were discovered dead in their home on 42nd Place North in Birmingham, Alabama. A neighbor noticed the front door was open and contacted the authorities for a welfare check. Upon arrival, police found the couple deceased, each with gunshot wounds.
