In the early hours of December 26, 2021, Tuscaloosa Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting near the intersection of Dinah Washington Avenue and Short 19th Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Christopher Gilbert suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Gilbert was promptly transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
