On April 24, 2020, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to a panic alarm at the Shell gas station located at 9425 Parkway East. Upon arrival, they discovered 45-year-old Daryl Eugene Cross suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:06 p.m.
