Do you know who murdered Dion Glass in 2019? In the early morning hours of a summer Sunday in East Knoxville, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of a local family. On July 28, 2019, 24-year-old Dion Glass was found with serious injuries in a parking lot at the corner of Wilson Avenue and Harrison Street. Knoxville Police Department officers responded to the scene shortly after 5 a.m. and discovered the young man suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to the UT Medical Center, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The investigation into his death was immediately classified as a homicide.
Dion Mikeil Glass, born on December 31, 1994, was a graduate of Austin East High School's class of 2014 and was employed by D & S Community. He was known as a young man with a soft heart who was a self-taught drummer and grew up playing for his church, Mount Moriah FBH Church, which he had attended since his youth. Described as loving his mother deeply, he would often FaceTime her just to see where she was. His brother was his best friend, and his family is still waiting for justice.
As the Knoxville Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit began their investigation, they appealed to the public for any information regarding the circumstances of the shooting. Despite their efforts and the passage of time, the case remains unsolved, with no arrests made and no suspects publicly identified. KPD investigators have expressed that they have very little information to go on and have implored the community to come forward with any details that might lead to a breakthrough in the case.
