On January 22, 2024, at approximately 2:50 a.m., Knoxville Police Department officers responded to a reported shooting inside a residence on the 5700 block of Chesswood Drive in North Knoxville. Upon arrival, they discovered 47-year-old Benjamin Vellines, who had sustained at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
