Nakeia McCafferty, aged 32, was found dead on February 15, 2008, in Philadelphia. Her body was discovered lying behind a chain-link fence near a vacant rowhouse on 5440 Market Street. She had suffered multiple stab wounds to her face and neck, and was pronounced dead at the scene. Nakeia's death was yet another tragic addition to Philadelphia's rising homicide count for that year, reflecting the city's struggles with violent crime.
