Jahlil Garrett, a 19-year-old African-American male, was found shot in the head and buttocks. Alongside him was 19-year-old Jovan Bradley-Dixo, who had been shot twice in the chest.
Philadelphia police officers responded to the scene at approximately 12:38 a.m. and discovered the grim tableau.
Both victims were rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in a desperate attempt to save them. Tragically, their injuries were too severe. Jahlil Garrett was pronounced dead at 1:05 a.m., followed by Jovan Bradley-Dixo at 1:20 a.m. The double homicide added to a particularly violent period in the city's history.
