In the summer of 2011, a young man's life was cut short on a Friday afternoon in South Philadelphia. Twenty-year-old Benjamin Butcher, a Black male, was on the 1600 block of Catharine Street when the sound of a gunshot pierced the air at approximately 4:54 p.m. on July 1st. Police responded to reports of the shooting and discovered Butcher with a single, fatal gunshot wound to his torso.
